Feeling Shy?
So MAD was built as a safe and inclusive online space for introverts, overthinkers and creative kids who worry about putting their work out there. The resources and ideas sharedf are shaped by this approach; there is no pressure to perform or compete, just encouragement to explore and create in a way that feels comfortable.
You’re awesome exactly as you are.
“My daughter was so proud when she finished her first project.” Parent of Miss 10
WARNING: YOUR SO MAD TUTORIALS HAVE BEEN TESTED ON REAL TEENS & TWEENS
No young creatives were harmed in the making of these educational experiences. But, um, they had a LOT to say about them!

“Learning to use Procreate was really fun, especially drawing a portrait! I used to think it had to be perfect, but it’s okay if it looks different because that’s what makes it mine! The lessons were easy to follow, and I liked that I could pause whenever I needed to.”
Miss 11

“I like drawing and I like that I have a place where I can learn new things.
I even used what I learned for a school project, and it actually turned out pretty good.”
Master 10

“My daughter’s creativity and design skills have improved tenfold. She loves the creative prompts and has created amazing pieces that she’s proud to show off to her friends and family.”
Mrs A (Parent of Miss 13)

“I never used to like showing my art and designs, but now I feel way more confident doing it. I get great feedback, which is kinda cool. It’s nice to just create without stressing if it’s perfect.”
Miss 12

Meet your Creative Coach
Hey, I’m Ruth! I’m a graphic designer, digital artist, and your go-to creative guide here at So Mad About Design. Over the last 5 years, I’ve discovered a love of supporting young creatives, helping them turn their big ideas into bold creations while building confidence, skills, and a strong creative voice.
Right now I’m putting most of my working time into other projects, which is why So MAD is on pause, but my heart is still in helping young creatives grow their skills and confidence and I will keep sharing ideas here when I can.
So MAD has always been about more than just design skills. It’s about creating a safe, inclusive space where young artists can explore their creativity freely and discover their unique style.
